For nearly two decades the Peng family owned and operated two of Lawrence's premier Chinese restaurants, the Panda Garden and the Plum Tree. In the summer of 2008, the Peng family decided to merge the two restaurants into the Panda & Plum Garden restaurant, using the former Panda Garden, 1500 W. 6th St., location for the new venture.

While customers currently cannot pay with Bitcoins at an in-store POS, they may place their order from any desktop or mobile device and pick it up onsite.
